Darrel Martin describes the paradigm or ultimate design for a dry fly hook in his book.  Daiichi has translated Martin's theory into the ultimate dry fly hook.  It has the features modern tiers look for; wide gape, mini-barb, etc.  Plus the upturned tapered shank presents mayfly wings in a very natural angled position.
The 1222 version of this hook features Daiichi's Crystal(TM) Finish which is a white, silvery plate. A fish looking up at a fly with a "Crystal Finish" hook will find that hook almost invisible, especially with the sky in the background.
