Housatonic River and Ten Mile River Report 05/25/23

Posted by Jack Wilkinson

Had the chance to fish the Housatonic last week and had a great time with some brown trout and some rainbows taken on nymphs, streamers, and some light dry fly activity. Fish weren't consistently rising, they were very sporadic with the takes but managed to get a couple fish interested. Saw lots of bugs on the water some Caddis, March Browns, Blue Winged olives, Sulphurs, and Light Cahills. Local anglers have been reporting great success all through the Housatonic and fishing at the Ten Mile has been good too. Flies that have been working are Hares ears, Prince Nymphs, Caddis nymphs, Woolly Buggers, Spinners, cahills, and blue winged olives have all been catching fish when you find them consistently rising so make sure you've stocked those fly boxes. Housatonic at Falls Village is running at 763 CFS, Gaylordsville below Bulls Bridge is running at 1120 CFS, and the Ten Mile in Wingdale is running at 199 CFS. Flows are good all around so get yourselves out there and try catching some fish before it gets too hot!
