Housatonic River Report 06/03/23

Posted by Jack Wilkinson
The Housatonic River and the Ten mile have both been fishing well and bugs have been hatching like crazy in recent weeks. Our only problem is no rain and low flows. The Housatonic in Falls Village is running at 386 CFS, in Gaylordsville below Bulls Bridge 534 CFS and the Ten Mile in Wingdale is flowing at 87.2 CFS. Had a fisherman come in at noon yesterday from fishing the Ten Mile with a temperature of 69. Luckily with tonight getting into the 40s and next week 70s and potential rain later in the week the Housatonic will be fishable without worry of harming fish due to temperatures being too warm. Bugs that have been hatching are March Browns, Blue Winged Olives, Sulphurs, Light Cahills, and Caddis. Flies that have been working are Spinners, Caddis, the Usual, Hare's ears, Prince Nymphs, Holy Grail. Fishing has been great with dry flies, nymphs, and some streamer action in the morning time. Fishing has been best between evening and dusk.
