Columbus Day Weekend 2022
Salmon River is producing at the moment, lots of kings and cohos in the river with some scattered reports of few browns and steelhead making their way in. Most productive areas of the river are the mid to upper end of the river toward the hatchery. Fish are holding in the deeper and larger runs so look for them there. But there are still heavy amounts of fish all throughout and will be for a couple weeks more. Make sure when choosing a place to start fishing anticipate where you will be able to land the poweful fish. The gauge at Pineville is running at 603 CFS and the water temperature is in the mid 50s. Patterns that have been working are eggs and streamer patterns to entice aggressive fish. Try different fly colors thoughout the day as the bite windows for certain colors can change hour to hour. Overall fishing has been good and hooking into salmon is lots of fun!
