Uses

These capes are designed for hackling dry flies, whether it be parachutes, classic Catskill dry flies, Wulff style flies, split wing dry flies, or palmered bodies like that on an Elk Hair Caddis or Stimulator. You’ll find a large range of feathers on these capes that can go from a size 4 down to a size 22, but most of the feathers on these capes will be in the #8 through #16 range.

Comparisons

Dry fly quality capes are a pretty common thing, but it’s tough to find a full cape for this price. If you’re looking to tie dry flies without spending an arm and a leg, another option would be to get a Whiting Dry Fly Hackle ½ Cape. This is a half cape, so you get half of the feathers, but it’s a little cheaper and allows you to tie a similar range of sizes. However, if you’re looking for an economical full cape, it’s tough to beat the Tyers Grade Cape from Keough.
